Frequently asked questions

  • All therapy sessions are conducted virtually. This allows for flexible scheduling and the convenience of attending sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

  • Sessions are offered in both English and Spanish to accommodate your needs. I understand the importance of communicating in a language that feels most comfortable and natural to you. Being able to express yourself in your preferred language can greatly enhance the therapeutic process, allowing for more nuanced and authentic communication.

  • My approach to therapy is holistic and tailored to each client's unique needs and background. I draw from several evidence-based modalities to create an effective and personalized treatment plan:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) forms a core part of my practice, helping clients identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I also emphasize culturally sensitive therapy, recognizing the importance of cultural context in shaping experiences and perspectives.

Interpersonal therapy techniques allow us to explore and improve relationships, while mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) integrates mindfulness practices to enhance awareness and emotional regulation.

For clients seeking shorter-term interventions, I employ solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) to set concrete goals and build on existing strengths. This ties into my overall strength-based approach, which focuses on leveraging clients' inherent resilience and capabilities.

By combining these approaches, I strive to provide comprehensive, effective, and compassionate care that empowers clients to overcome challenges and achieve their therapeutic goals.

  • The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Initially, most clients benefit from weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. This allows us to delve into issues consistently and make steady progress.

As you progress in therapy, we may adjust the frequency. Some clients continue with weekly sessions, while others may transition to biweekly or monthly appointments. Factors influencing session frequency include:

    1. The severity and urgency of your concerns

    2. Your current life stressors and support system

    3. Your availability and schedule

    4. Financial considerations and insurance coverage

    5. The type of therapy and treatment goals

Consistency is key in therapy. Regular sessions, even if less frequent, are generally more beneficial than sporadic attendance.
